Welcome to the December 2023 edition of the ialeUK newsletter. As this will be our last communication of 2023 we thought we would take the chance to highlight some of the things we've done this year!
Over the year, Chris Foster has put together five great Newsletters, which you can read again anytime here. Chloe Bellamy hosted two more fantastic webinars in our Landscape Connections series, one on Kew's Landscape Ecology Programme and another on Delivering Nature Networks in Wales. And with Marc Metzger, Chloe also hosted our annual Bunce Lecture from Prof. Teresa Pinto-Corrreia - if you missed it you can watch again on YouTube here and read Chloe's summary here in this newsletter. Finally, Caitlin Lewis organised a series of fantastic events:
- Several sessions of our Landscape Perspectives journal club
- A postgraduate workshop with field visits to see Woodland Creation and Tree Planting in Wales
- A workshop introducing meteorological and hydrological data for ecologists
- A special webinar with Sara King from Rewilding Britain and Dr Lindsay Maskell from UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology
- An agroforestry fieldtrip following the Bunce lecture - you can read a report from the trip by Geoff Griffiths and Chris Foster in this issue of the newsletter.
So, it's been a busy year! But that's not quite all, as in this newsletter issue we also have the latest in our 'day in the life' series, featuring ialeUK treasurer Vanessa Burton. And looking beyond ialeUK, the latest newsletter from IALE-Europe is now available here, with stories on the IALE World Congress and news of the latest IALE chapter: IALE-France! We're glad to welcome them to the IALE family.
We wish you all a restful end to the 2023 and look forward to connecting again in 2024.
Chris Foster and James Millington
