As winter draws to a close we can look forward to not only more daylight and warmer temperatures, but also the excitement of the ialeUK annual conference! This year we are holding it in sunny Telford in Shropshire within striking distance of some unique UK landscapes.

If anyone has ever organised a conference it is an on-going effort to maintain the momentum across all aspects – from booking a conference room, to organising the teas to ensuring there are sufficient speakers. This effort, although time-consuming is also very rewarding as you progress towards a (hopefully) exciting and relevant conference. If there are any members who would like to start thinking about organising the next conference I can thoroughly recommend it – you learn a lot about your own organisation, the organisation you work for and the huge amount of support that is available within ialeUK to help you out.

So – if that has inspired you – please think about contributing this year as well as in the future…and also don’t forget to tell your friends and colleagues – you never know there may be a landscape ecologist hidden among them!

See you in Telford in September.
