ialeUK recently hosted two Landscape Connections lunchtime webinars. In May, Ed Ikin and Laura Martinez Suz from Kew Royal Botanic Gardens provided an overview of Kew’s Landscape Ecology Programme that explores the multiple values of UK biodiversity, before focusing on research into the relationship between fungal diversity, abundance and function and carbon sequestration. Jim Latham and Liz Hancocks from Natural Resources Wales (NRW) outlined the ecological and policy basis of the Nature Network Programme in Wales (including habitat network modelling for prioritisation) and described the development of Resilient Ecological Networks, with a case study from South Wales. Both stimulated interesting discussions and touched on similar themes, such as how their research informs how and where we should focus efforts to restore woodlands and encourage natural regeneration to provide both environmental and societal benefits into the future.
If you missed them, you can catch up with our entire Landscape Connection series via our [iale%20UK%20-%20YouTube]ialeUK YouTube channel. We are now on a break from the core Landscape Connections webinar series. We'll be back in the autumn with our annual Bunce Lecture and AGM. Please get in touch with connections@iale.uk if you would like to volunteer to present your landscape ecology work as a Landscape Connections webinar, or to make any suggestions.
