Best Practice Guide on Payments for Ecosystem Services - Webinar
Date: 22nd July 2013 3pm – 4.30pm
This webinar follows the publication of Defra’s Best Practice Guide on Payments for Ecosystems (PES) in May 2013.
A lack of funding for the development and maintenance of GI was identified in a recent Partnership survey as a key challenge for its delivery. The webinar will ask:
- Do PES approaches provide an opportunity for projects developing GI to fill this funding gap?
- What projects have used/are using PES approaches to enhance GI?
- What do I need to do to explore the use of PES for my project?

2nd Autumn School Detecting Cultural Landscape in Mediterranean Archaeology (DeCLaMA) – Course
Dates: September 16-20 2013
Location: Radda in Chianti
The traces of the historical land use represent the main elements in the Mediterranean Cultural Landscape, characterized by the same variety and beauty of the archaeological and architectural heritage, but are poorly known. The combination of "landscape-archeology" represents a great opportunity for economic and social development. This perspective is the basis for this course.
The course aims to provide tools for discovering and preserving the Cultural Landscapes, working towards their analysis and evaluation mainly in archaeological areas, proposing an innovative perspective of management by a multidisciplinary approach, involving botanists, archaeologists, geographers, land managers and architects.
