Welcome to the ialeUK Autumn newsletter and in particular welcome to all those colleagues who recently joined us for the conference. In the last editorial I wrote “I am sure that it will be a great conference, as always made by the attendees and their knowledge and interest in landscape ecology” and (thankfully) I was proved to be correct. There were more than 80 delegates who attended over the three days with colleagues from as far afield as Australia and New Zealand, as well as a strong European and UK contingent contributing to a friendly and vibrant atmosphere.
Although the process was a very rewarding experience I am happy to pass the conference baton on to Marc Metzger who is hosting next year’s conference at the University of Edinburgh …so watch the ialeUK website, newsletter and your e-mail in-boxes for further updates in the near future.
Many thanks to the contributors to the newsletter, in particular it is good to see the student support funding being put to good use. A timely reminder to any PhD students out there that there is help to offset the costly business of conference attendance.
Finally, an early Christmas present from Springer is the current open access to Landscape Ecology - so have a look and see what the wonderful world of landscape ecology has to offer.
