Badger culls to go ahead this summer

Environment Secretary Owen Paterson has confirmed that the two pilot badger culls to tackle the spread of bovine TB will go ahead this summer in West Gloucestershire and West Somerset. Owen Paterson said that the culls are “an important step towards taking the action we need to tackle the spread of this disease in wildlife”. Tougher controls on moving cattle, increased herd testing and vaccine development are also part of the approach to controlling the disease.
