It has been a busy couple of months for those of us interested in things at a landscape scale. Not only have the Nature Improvement Areas been launched in England, but the ialeUK committee have been thinking long and hard about what we do and how we do it! Both represent the importance of landscape in current thinking: at one end we have major policy and funding decisions looking at the big scale and at the other the individuals and organisations working on the ground to get these messages across. With this in mind this season’s newsletter brings you up to date with ialeUK activity with information on our PhD workshop that occurred in April and upcoming iale UK conferences in Edinburgh (2012) and the European Congress in Manchester (2013). So make a note in your diary and make sure you get involved in putting landscape ecology into practice.
